The Toshiba Folio 100 tablet should be the first true competitor to the Apple iPad as it packs some powerful features and specs.

Separating it even further from the iPad is the fact that the tablet supports the Opera Mobile Browser with Flash 1.10. As far as competing with the iPad, the thickness and weight are pretty close, though the Folio 100 is a smidge thicker and heavier. It’s 281 x 181 x 14 mm. and Weight: 760gr and a 7 hour battery life.

Toshiba Folio 100 Tablet powered by a Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset, a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel multitouch display, a 1.3MP webcam, SD card reader (up to 32GB), 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, USB 2.0 ports, plus there’s an HDMI output and run Android 2.2 (Froyo).

Folio 100 also brings a 1020mAh battery that boasts up to 7 hours of battery life with mixed use to the table and also appears to support some sort of docking system, which would likely enable HDMI output to a big-screen TV or monitor.

There will definitely be a Toshiba Market app for downloading some third party apps. We could possibly hear all about the Toshiba Folio 100 next week at the IFA-Event, and there have been whispers of an October ship date, nothing pricing or availability is confirmed here though.
