Hewlett Packard (HP), the largest PC manufacturer based in the United States, announced the release of their first netbook which uses the open source operating system Google’s Android development. Regarding the new HP product, Charl Synman, an HP VP, states “The browser has become the desktop for many people, and the new Compaq AirLife is the next evolution of a mobile computer that is streamlined specifically for the web. The HP Compaq Airlife 100 is Android-based smartbook combines the best of the smartphone and the netbook with an almost full-sized keyboard, long battery life, simplified software, and quick online access.
